The Joy of Giving Back

One question that I always seem to get asked is, “Jay what are you most proud of throughout your career at RE/MAX?” While many think it would be something related to our company’s achievements in the real estate field, there is no doubt in my mind that working with the Children’s Miracle Network is at the top of the list. Nothing gives me more professional pride than RE/MAX’s association with CMN.

For those who do not know, RE/MAX has had a long-standing relationship with the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). RE/MAX is the nation’s second largest contributor to CMN and in 2009, we reached a major milestone by becoming one of just three fundraising sponsors to reach $100 million in total donations. This is a distinction that makes me extremely proud of all my colleagues at RE/MAX. Through the years, our agents have raised money for CMN through a variety of ways, including charity auctions, special events and the Miracle Homes program.

Last month, RE/MAX of New England recognized all our agents who regularly donate time and money to Children’s Hospital Boston through CMN at a special hospital visit. I had the pleasure of joining Dick Argys, Chief Administrative Officer for Children’s Hospital Boston and New England Patriots All-Pro, Vince Wilfork, to speak with our agents about the importance of their donations and to personally thank them for all that they do. It is these types of events, which shine a light on the good doings of our agents, that bring me the most joy and pride to be a part of the RE/MAX of New England family.

After the event, I joined a group of agents in spreading cheer to some of the patient floors. Vince and his wife Bianca visited the patients as well, and brightened the day of many young Patriot fans at the hospital. It was an honor and privilege to meet so many courageous children and their families. We even stopped in a big playroom where Vince and Bianca hung out with young patients, while doing arts and crafts. It was truly an inspirational sight.

Known as a tenacious defender on the football field, there is no bigger teddy bear when it comes to children than Vince Wilfork. He made sure to visit with each child in the hospital, instantly putting smiles on their faces that creating memories that I am sure will last a lifetime. I certainly enjoyed watching him interact with the children and I am sure our agents did as well. He made sure every child had an autographed football and a memory to cherish forever.

All in all, this was a special day that recognized brave children and generous agents. These are the type of days that make me extremely proud to be a part of the RE/MAX family and thankful to work with such charitable people. I encourage everyone to learn more about the Children’s Miracle Network and all the great work they do by visiting www.childrensmiraclenetwork.org.
